A Stadium for Protest.

The ambition of this project is what if the people no longer stands the imbalance in the today’s society, when the political acts dominating public place, leading to architecture is peoples last hope for the right to communication? Then the architecture is no longer shelter for people, but a negotiating platform, service as an agent between public and political act. Non-violence is a type of political performance that is designed to raise awareness and win over sympathy of those with privilege. When the right of public space in architecture that is being violated by political act, the architecture itself is using its maximum performance. In this past five years protest statistic has been rocketing, which is indicating the imbalance in today’s society. The protests have become the new sport of 21st century. The ambition of this project is use architecture as a collective amplifier, accommodating protester a museum for knowledge of protest, and live documenting the action of protesting. Yet offering the public a stadium for viewing action of this new sport of “negotiating act”. By selecting between intersections of infrastructure, is not just plaza that is already form by the infrastructure, at the same time is in between bifurcation.
The site is sitting between three different levels of infrastructure; bridge is connecting Broadway from Oakland, which are the major protest district in the history of Oakland. Second level are the walkway infrastructure that is connecting two sides of the master plans and major pedestrian on the master plan. The third level is the ground level the major drive way and bus lane connecting from downtown Alameda, CA. The site is intersecting bifurcation of various context and users this site have become a hub of sorting machine. The site is suggesting collecting and distributing the circulation and various contexts, This is a stadium where people voice can be published and action can be documented. The result of success or fail is based on the decisions of the legislative office, which is out of architect reach. But what architect can do, is place where people voice can be publish / heard and action can be documented, and being aware of.
